BeCert helps landlords in England who manage their own properties keep every certificate and check up to date, without paying for a full property management platform.
Who runs BeCert
BeCert is an independent service based in England. It is not part of GOV.UK or any council, and it isn't a letting agent.
Why it exists
Most landlords in England own one or two properties and look after them alongside a day job. The rules come from several places at once: gas safety from HSE, electrical safety and alarms from the government, deposits, Right to Rent, the Renters' Rights Act and now the landlord database. BeCert puts all of it in one place and reminds you before anything is due.
How we check our guides
Every guide and checklist on this site links to the official source it relies on, usually GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk or HSE. Each guide shows the date it was last checked. We recheck the guides when the rules change and at least every few months, and we only change that date when we have actually rechecked the page.
Our guides explain the rules in plain English. They aren't legal advice. If your situation is unusual, check with your council, a solicitor or a landlord association.
